The Quality Mark in Social Services PDF Print E-mail

The target of the project whose implementation began in September 2009 was to create a system for assessing quality of the Old People´s Home, to help service users, their relatives and other interested to obtain relevant information about the quality they can expect in the concrete social service.

It is a simple system of external certification based on a "star award".  It provides users and those interested in residential social services objective quality evaluation of concrete Old People´s Home and motivates management of these organization to continuously improve the quality of services.  The system principle is the evaluation of the five basic areas of services (accommodation, catering, leisure time and culture, partnerships, care) from the user's perspective as well as transparency, voluntary an financial affordability of the certification.
The system Quality Mark in Social Services was developed by the Association of social services providers Czech Republic and by the company Hartmann – Rico, together with experts on the issue of care for the elderly and the area of quality from a number of specialized institutions and organizations.  It was pilot tested in 12 residential facilities with a capacity of 10-400 beds in 6 regions of the Czech Republic. On the 5 of those facilities was the certification process already completed. Mr. Drábek the Minister of Social affairs handed them certificates and gold placard with the number of stars expressing the level of the quality in a press conference.
